If the answer is yes…then this could be the job for you We are currently recruiting a unique and fulfilling role within our Bedford Emergency Operations Centre. The role is for Emergency Call Handlers. You will be answering and managing 999 calls from members of the public, health care professionals and other emergency services. You will triage calls and offer lifesaving advice and support to those critically ill/injured. You need to be dynamic, able to manage a lot of information at once, have empathy, great communication skills resilience and work well within a team. Our emergency call handlers are hardworking, enthusiastic and have to process information quickly and accurately to support patients ensuring that data is accurately input into the Computer Aided Dispatch system, whilst ensuring high levels of customer service. The information and advice you will be giving to patients is managed through a triage tool and it will give you the essential information at the time. All the training and mentoring you will need to undertake this role will be provided. We have full time and part time opportunities available. Hours are worked on a rotational shift basis, 365 days per year, including evenings, nights and weekends. For a full time position, you will work 10hr shifts on a relief roster which is provided as an attachment on the advert. For a part time position, we have evening and weekend shifts available - the hours available will be discussed with you ahead of any interview being offered. You will work shifts a minimum of 8 hours and a maximum of 12 hours on a roster which will be agreed with you. However, you will need to be able to attend the training course on a full time basis. The training course which is 4 weeks long will need to be completed full time during working hours. You will need to have 4 GCSE`s at grade C or above (or an equivalent qualification or experience) Including English, excellent communication skills and proven computer literacy skills.
