Fibre Engineer - York

Manpower UK are recruiting for a Fibre Engineer to support with a major FTTP project in York. Our client is a UK wide telecommunication's company that specialises in field engineering and managed services to the telecoms and the ISP industries. As their new Fibre Engineer, you will take the lead role in the implementation and operation of the FTTP projects. You will not be alone. You will be supported fully and will work closely with the Fibre Manager and other Fibre Engineers in the team. The role also requires relationships to be established with the staff in other teams across the company involved in the design, delivery and operation of the Fibre network service. Experience required: Demonstrable experience with a proven track record working in a networking engineering environment, in senior engineering role. Advanced knowledge of FTTP/FTTH/FTTX technologies. Operations and maintenance of metro/long-haul optical transmission Networks, DWDM and SDH or SONET technologies. Working with optical transmission equipment from well established. Sound ability to diagnose problems with existing equipment and fix faults up to resolution. Ability to communicate fluently with the customers and should possess good customer service skills. NRSWA unit 2 cert (signing, lighting & guarding). Experience on blown fibre, mini trenching, poles (climbing & MEWP) and ladder work on MDU's.
