Overview
Design Engineer required for my client, a global leader in the design and manufacture of special purpose automation machinery. The main responsibility of the Design Engineer is to be responsible for the design, BOM issue, production and technical support for a portfolio of company of products. Key Duties and Responsibilities of the Design Engineer: To be responsible for designs, BOM’s, development work, enquiries and value engineering activities on-time and to the correct specification and quality standards. Holding design reviews, understanding the key requirements and progressing a design to completion. Utilising Design for Manufacture and Value Engineering techniques to ensure a smooth transition from design concept into manufacture. Select appropriate third-party components to be used within designs. To produce layout, assembly and detail drawings from a sketched idea. To produce costing sheets for proposed designs, parts and assemblies. To produce quotes and equipment selection recommendations. To formulate technical specifications for parts and products. To encourage innovation and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Establishing good working relationship with assembly teams, planning, purchasing, sales and other key members of all Departments. Skills and Attributes of the Design Engineer: HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline 3D Cad - Layouts, detailing and dimensioning to ISO standards The ability to produce layout, assembly and detail drawings from a sketched idea Full understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations Utilise appropriate calculations and formula to back up design ideas Problem solving Excellent organisation skills Effective time management IND2 This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89937028
