Purpose The position of Full Stack Web Developer sits within the Digital function of our Retail business of ScottishPower, reporting to the Digital Development Manager. As a Full Stack Developer within the Digital Team, you will design, build and maintain Java applications and provide solutions to support a programme of ongoing work from design to deployment, along with supporting the business Stakeholders to identify possible business changes that will further support the growth of the ScottishPower Digital business plan. We are looking for a passionate Full Stack Web Developer that recognises the need to write clean, maintainable, scalable and well tested code alongside likeminded Engineers moving in a fast-paced environment. We have a mobile-first approach to creating react-components, using atomic design principles. We are running the latest React, with redux, rxjs and sass with a good typescript foundation. Additionally, we have a number of microservices written in Java 8 and Spring Boot used by a wide range of native mobile and web-based products. Responsibilities In the role of Full Stack Web Developer, you will be working in a small cross functional product squad alongside Developers, Testers, Product Owners, Business Analysts and UX Designers, with objectives varying based on your squad, making this a highly agile environment with a clear vision and roadmap roadmap driven by our dedicated Product Owners. You will be required to assist the Digital Development Manager in:- Providing support to the development activities within the ScottishPower family of internet sites and Digital platforms Strive to create visually appealing mobile and web applications that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation Work to create a process of frequent change and improvements across the Digital environment by using all your technical and creative skills Assessing the external and internal factors to maximise benefits and minimise risk to the business as appropriate Producing effective developments that create best in class customer propositions and interactions where appropriate Work in a collaborative manner with Analysts and Testers to collectively deliver to stakeholder requirements Contributing to the delivery of operational Digital objectives by making recommendations and carrying out technical activities as prescribed by the Digital Development Manager Skills and Requirements We are seeking a collaborative and enthusiastic Web Developer who is willing to push boundaries to deliver innovative solutions utilising the latest technologies, whilst being open, sharing and not afraid to challenge the norm. Essential skills for the role are experience in: React and redux HTML, CSS NodeJS Comfortable with using relational databases Comfortable with RESTful APIs Familiarity with Git Experience of writing unit/integration tests Comfortable working on a codebase with other developers To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate as a minimum: Have experience in building quality digital services Good knowledge of Agile and Scrum delivery processes Awareness and interest in CICD: e.g. Jenkins, pipeline, automated testing Good interpersonal skills and desire to support team mates Desire to learn and improve What we offer This is a Permanent contract and salary for this role aligns with market expectations.
