St. John's House provides quality, specialised treatment and care of adults with learning disabilities where their needs challenge mainstream service provision. We offer a secure environment which is linked with community based step-down services including continuing care and rehabilitation. Many of our patients have a history of offending behaviour and have learning disability and other conditions including autistic spectrum disorders, personality disorders and mental illnesses. Based in the village of Palgrave in Norfolk, the strength of St John's House lies in the quality of the comprehensive assessment, treatment and care it provides. The emphasis is on a holistic and individualised approach delivered by a multidisciplinary team who are skilled, experienced professionals trained in their specific field. Our multi disciplinary team includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing (mental health and learning disability), occupational therapy, specialist teaching, social work and a practice nurse for physical healthcare. We also call in services from GPs, speech and language therapists, dentists, opticians, dieticians and chiropodists. Our Medical Secretary role requires the provision of efficient, professional and effective administrative and secretarial support within the hospital to various Multi Disciplinary team members. The main duties of the role include: 1. Assisting with administrative tasks providing efficient and effective administrative and secretarial support to the hospital, including document and report production, telephone enquiries, diary management, meeting and greeting visitors and other administrative tasks as appropriate. 2. Handling of external and internal enquiries, recognising the level of importance of particular enquiries or issues and applying the appropriate prioritisation; passing issues and enquiries on for appropriate action to ensure the highest level of service. 3. Ensuring that all information and documentation is correctly processed in line with policies and procedures in order that regulatory, statutory, compliance and financial requirements are met; maintaining the audit trail ensuring up to date and accurate information can be provided or accessed as required. 4. Updating patients records, central and local database systems, ensuring accuracy of all data input. 5. Ensuring the effective operation of delegated administrative processes and procedures. 6. Covering for each other Medical Secretaries and Administrators during periods of absence which will involve some across site working.
