About the role: We have an exciting opportunity to be part of our Finance department as a Cost Assistant Accountant. The cost team is responsible for maintaining an ongoing and accurate rolling budget for costs. This role involves meeting and communicating with Heads of Functions and Senior Managers of other departments monthly, in order to discuss monthly and yearly variances, and feed in their expectations of spend for the year ahead. You will ensure that constant analysis against budget is maintained and this is then communicated to the Directors monthly. Key responsibilities will include: Provision of information in line with defined monthly internal timetables. Analysing monthly variances to budget and helping to maintain an explanation for full year variances to budget on costs for both business-as-usual cost centres and projects. Reflecting monthly actuals within the rolling budget models and performing headcount reconciliations for both field and head office employees. Holding monthly meetings with cost centre holders. Assisting in the preparation of schedules for director cost control meetings. Uploading a rolling budget each month with timely accurate information for the current month. Assisting towards the preparation and delivery of a bi-annual budget. Resolution of ad-hoc queries. Ad-hoc reporting to cost centre holders / project managers to aid them in managing and understanding their costs. Downloading and manipulating data/information from CODA. Use of the Anaplan modelling system. The skills and experience you will have: We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic individual who is adaptable to change, keen to learn new skills, eager to meet key stakeholders across the business and looking to work towards their accountancy qualification. Confidence to lead meetings. Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels in an organisation. Demonstrate a high attention to detail. Able to work under own initiative, with minimal supervision. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Flexible, adaptable and strives to meet deadlines. Desirable skills and experience, but not essential: Understands the requirements of an FCA regulated business. Previous experience within a finance department. Experience of budgeting. Anaplan knowledge. Degree or equivalent. AAT qualified or part qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA/ICAS. Why choose a career with us?
