We now have an exciting opportunity to join one of the South West's leading employers as an Alternative Water Supply Technician. This role will be based from Crownhill Depot, Plymouth. The Role The Alternative Water Supply Technician will support the Drinking Water Services Alternative Water Supply (AWS) strategy within the South West and Bournemouth network operational areas. You will ensure a constant state of safe and compliant readiness, repair, maintenance, operation, compliance and deployment of all AWS equipment around the clock to assist in the achievement of customer service expectations and regulatory obligations. Reporting to the AWS supervisor for work flow, and Area Asset Manager for line management, you will be required to ensure the AWS equipment and materials are always in an operational state of readiness and repair and such that deployments can be made rapidly and with confidence that all items are hygienic and operable at all times. The AWS kit needs to be inspected and exercised frequently to maintain standby operability. You will be responsible for delivery of the AWS services, informed via the AWS Supervising Technician, and will work alongside various teams to ensure supply interruptions events are avoided – planned and reactive. Requirement to work a flexible shift pattern across 7 days a week. You will normally work within your area of operation but there is a requirement to work across Devon, Cornwall and Bournemouth as required. The Ideal Alternative Water Supply Technician: Experienced in mechanical duties i.e. first line maintenance of equipment, pumps, valves Proven experience of working within a water supply environment Previous experience working on own initiative and working as part of team Ability to complete deployment and maintenance reports Proficient in the use of IT Proven experience of providing high quality internal and external customer service Full UK B Driving licence Ideally, Driver CPC, LGV and HIAB licences Rewards & Benefits: In return for your hard work as our Alternative Water Supply Technician, we can offer: A starting salary of £20,000 - £22,000 per annum dependent on skills and qualifications, £4,362 shift enhancement with potential for additional overtime earning including standby and callout payments Full training will be provided to obtain the required driving qualifications within a defined timeframe for the successful candidate, including HGV (CE) and associated plant and equipment if needed.
