Overview
Job Title: Mechanical Fitter As part of the maintenance team you will be responsible for supporting the production department by trouble shooting electrical equipment. Inspecting, diagnosing, repairing and improving equipment to maintain effective and efficient running of all plant machinery to assist in optimum production output. Responsibilities: Active involvement in the maintenance and installation of steam boilers/steam lines as well as the maintenance and installation of vacuum pumps, diaphragm pumps and compresses. Complete installation and maintenance work on pneumatics and hydraulics Fault find and repair a range of manufacturing equipment using various sources of information to locate the cause of breakdowns in an objective manner Accurately complete and update the computerised management system as well as reporting and recording machine data Complete the installation of new machinery and ensure planned maintenance is completed in a timely manner Communicate and liaise with colleagues on engineering issues, problems and projects as well as challenging constructively existing ideas and practices Work alongside production shift managers and production staff to identify faults, failures and prioritise workload Requirements: Engineering background in a manufacturing industry preferred Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Operate a variety of machine tools - lathe, milling machine, band saw, grinders, press tools and welding Experience of pneumatics and hydraulics PC Literate (MS Office) NVQ or BTEC qualifications or completed a time served mechanical apprenticeship Ability to use MEWP and FLT would be an advantage Possess a Welding certificate Awareness of YPM/PPM/OEE/5s ACS are recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter.
