Overview

This exciting new opening is with a global engineering company this is a division of the company specialise in designing and producing equipment including electrical penetrators and connectors used within the global oil industry. This position is to join a small team that is expected to grow fast, as you develop their product further Location: Near Barrow in Furness, or near York - flexible Excellent Benefits: Salary Excellent, 25 days holiday, flexible working, PMI, Bonus, excellent training and career progression. ROLE The Fibre Optic Design Engineer role will involve working on all aspects of design engineering and coordination of all technical activities on projects. You will participate in new product development, associated draughting, along with any necessary prototype building and testing. In addition there will be a mix of customer or project system design work to support the day to day operations of the engineering department. All tasks will involve following our Company QA/QC programme of continual improvement. The Fibre Optic Design Engineer will be expected to plan, schedule and coordinate engineering work - monitoring work in progress to ensure compliance to industry and company standards, and facilitate effective communication and coordination between all departments undertaking project work. Your technical knowledge will enable you to have sufficient awareness of details to recognise when technical problems are becoming apparent and be able to initiate corrective actions. You will report directly to the business manager, who has ultimate responsibility for the quality and effective completion of project objectives. On larger projects, the business manager may delegate certain project management tasks to the you, including client interaction and coordination of internal activities performed by RMSpumptools staff. However, the business manager will retain overall accountability for relationship management and customer satisfaction on the project. Key responsibilities will include: • Undertake all aspects of product design and development o Design Layouts / concepts o Design Review o Design Calculations o Detail Drawings o Checking work o BOM’s & Assembly Drawings o Assembly and Test Procedures o Product testing and qualification • Preparation of project engineering schedules and forecasts • Coordination and checking of engineering deliverables • Regular project status reports and change orders • Regular contact with project clients • Budget monitoring • Contributing to the development of the RMSpumptools brand • Provide support to other departments • Adhere to ISO 9001 drawing office practises • Participation in the preparation of project quotations and technical proposals THE CANDIDATE Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and with customers. Inventor 3D or similar software. Self-motivated and pro-active - willingness to learn highly technical product and manufacturing techniques. Thorough knowledge of company products and services. Experience in Fibre Optics Ideally experienced within the oil and gas sector. At least 2-3 years experience in a design and manufacturing environment or equivalent (combination of training and experience).
