Launcher Electrical Architect Lead

Part time working considered The Opportunity We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Electrical Architect to join our Weapons System Equipment team. The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of Weapon System Sub-system development and this role is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to challenge and develop their career. We are looking for an experienced electrical architect, who will have the ability to inspire others, ideally in complex organisations where there are multi-disciplined teams in a fast paced environment You will be comfortable operating closely with other senior members of the team on activities where there is frequent change, uncertainty and ambiguity. You’ll have to use your skills and experience to provide top level guidance to others, draw conclusions and make recommendations You will be able to demonstrate your skills and knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering, including: Digital electronics & microprocessor systems Analogue electronics & RF Power Electronics You will be able to demonstrate your broader understanding and appreciation of engineering disciplines, including Systems design and Safety systems You will be able to demonstrate experience of supplier and customer engagement, and provide confidence in your ability to work with a disparate range of stake holders both internally and externally, where you will provide confidence in your ability to positively influence the wider project You will be able to demonstrate your experience in managing close knit engineering teams and building long term partnerships and trusted relationships What’s in it for you? Weapon System Equipment Department is core to the delivery of modern defence capabilities. You’ll be working as part of an integrated project team on a flagship programme for MBDA to deliver new capabilities. This experience is a stepping-stone to more senior technical roles within Weapon Systems, such as a Weapon System CDE, as it gives the opportunity to experience a broad view of the development process through interaction and influence of Systems Designers, Chief Engineers and Suppliers. The Role The role is responsible for leading on all electrical activities as part of development of the SPEAR 3 Launchers Subsystem.Responsibilities will typically include: Defining and optimising the Electrical Architecture for the SPEAR3 GF and Operational Launchers Manage all aspects of the SPEAR3 Launcher Electrical Architecture development process from architecture definition through to design acceptance whilst managing design baselines. Flow-down of requirements from Electrical Architecture domain to Launcher sub-systems and equipment, technical management of internal and external suppliers (e.g. Interconnects) Manage the definition and justification of equipment electrical interfaces Oversee Launcher level power system, including power budget, power profiles and surges Manage Electrical Architecture coherence across all relevant domains i.e. safety, test architect, security, mechanical design, etc. Lead on issues such as EMC requirements and RF Interoperability, managing additional resources within the company to deliver these as required. Producing plans, controlling any assigned budgets, managing personal workload and identifying any further resource needs in delivering the above. What’s great about the team?
