Junior DevOps Engineer Location: Gloucester Type: Full-time Permanent Salary: 20-30k depending on qualifications and experience, plus bonus and benefits An IT engineer is invited to join a new generation technology company which has grown to become the market leader in battery storage in the UK power industry. Noriker Power, specialises in the design, software development, project management and commissioning of battery storage facilities that provide balancing services and flexible power for the UK’s increasingly renewable grid. As a fast-growth developer, Noriker Power is delivering a portfolio of energy storage and hybrid energy generation assets on behalf of an Energy Investment Fund. You will be trained and mentored by very experienced DevOps and software development professionals. You will deliver systems automation and monitoring, through knowledge sharing and best practice, as part of the DevOps function within our IT team . Responsibilities Ensuring infrastructure and applications are sufficiently monitored in both production and non-production environments Support commissioning of our control system software Ensure near 100% reliability for network connections to all our battery sites Improving infrastructure automation and building tools to aid Software Engineers Resolving operational issues Analysing and improving the reliability and performance of services Support company wide computer assets for all users and sites We are looking for smart and driven developers who can bridge the gap between our real-time control system (back-end development) and the web user interface (Front end development) with the following Requirements Essential: Degree qualified in STEM subject, applicants with relevant postgraduate qualifications (MSc, MEng) welcome Ability to automate system configuration and management using scripts (Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, Python, etc.) Familiar with at least two of the following: Python, Labview, Javascript, HTML, SQL, Database design Linux, Git, Web frameworks such as Django Genuinely excited to solve computer and network problems Valid UK driving licence. Able to work permanently in the UK. Requirement Desirable: Proficiency with Amazon AWS and other cloud services Database design, MySQL, PostgreSQL Experience with Git, Bitbucket Web development skills About the team: You will join a small, agile and multi-disciplinary team, leveraging your own unique skills to accomplish our goals.
