Overview

Construction Manager Location: Bristol Salary: Competitive Salary Job Type: Full Time Our client is a successful and developing company that manages collaboratively, the construction, extension and refurbishment of retail premises, with contract values ranging from around £1M to £5M. Their order book is busy for the foreseeable future. Their modern open-plan offices are on the South West fringe of Bristol with convenient parking and easy access to the M5, and their projects are mainly located West of the M5, extending from deep into South West England up to South Wales, with the Northern-most project being located in Hereford. They are currently offering an exciting full-time opportunity for a talented and experienced Construction Manager to join their team. Requirements of the Construction Manager: The ideal candidate would be degree qualified (although that is not an absolute requirement of this position), would have at least five years’ experience as a construction manager and would be a very good communicator who can lead teams of people. Previous experience in the retail sector would be an advantage, together with the following abilities: Good IT skills, especially using Office 365, Word, Excel and Project. A good knowledge of the latest health and safety legislation as it applies to building projects. Preparation of agendas, chairing of meetings and production of minutes in a timely manner. Development of project programmes. Preparation of information schedules for package tenders (tendering would be undertaken by others). Dealing with statutory undertakers, organising and negotiating with them. Maintaining clear and regular dialogue with other members of the team and the client. Liaising with site managers and contractors to support and encourage them and to ensure smooth delivery in a collaborative environment. Some familiarity with earthworks, foundations, drainage, underground services, works in the public highway, reinforced concrete slabs, steel frames, low-rise retail buildings, retaining walls, industrial roofing systems, masonry, car parks and retail fit-outs.
