Overview
TWO vacancies have arisen in the Production department of a leading Biopharmaceutical company in Worthing. A fixed – term position for 12 – months and a permanent position focusing on manufacturing liquid vaccines. If you have manual dexterity, high level of concentration, attention to detail and happy to work in a regulated production environment, wearing full protective clothing this will be an excellent opportunity for you. If you have worked in a regulated setting (e.g. GMP, ISO, sterile / aseptic etc) and are used to following SOPs precisely, we would love to hear from you. You will be paid a salary of £18,500 and you will work 7am-2pm Monday to Friday for 6 months during the “low season” (typically Feb-July) and 6:30am-3:30pm Monday to Friday for 6 months during the “peak season” (typically Aug-Jan). Your primary duties will be: Manufacturing vaccines (mostly by hand) within a strictly controlled sterile GMP clean room environment Setting up vaccines for manufacture Operation of VHP machinery to maintain the clean and sterile environment Checking batch record documents to ensure they are filled out correctly Providing operators in the clean room with products and vials for manufacture Using the computer system to enter data accurately The Company A pioneering Pharmaceutical organisation working with biological substances to assist drug development and produce innovative new treatments for people worldwide. The company is well known in the local area for its positive and supportive working environment. You will be joining a small, collaborative team that forms part of the Primary Production department, preparing substances that will be used in the development and manufacturing of vaccines for patients across several countries. The company is easily accessible by car or train. The Role You will be based in the busy Sterile Production area, where a variety of liquid vaccines are manufactured by hand for individual patients. You will receive an order for a particular drug and manufacture it, within a certain deadline, using a range of methods and tools and following strict procedures. Precision is very important because you will be working with small quantities of ingredients and must ensure that the drugs are made to exact specifications in order maximise their effectiveness and patient safety. You must have good hygiene standards, as the whole production area operates with strict GMP and Health & Safety policies and follows Sterile / Aseptic guidelines. You will spend a lot of the day on your feet and there will be some lifting (not heavy) involved. Your role will involve setting up vaccines for manufacture, checking documentation, manually measuring various substances, using state-of-the art machinery (autoclaves, balances etc) and ensuring that all work in the Production area meets high standards. You will be working in a friendly, welcoming team of people who are genuinely passionate about what the company is doing. Candidates will be considered from industries such as Food, Medical Devices, Precision Engineering, Lab Testing (including microbiology testing), Diagnostics etc. If you have worked in a GMP clean room environment, or a sterile area, it would be a very strong advantage, but this is not essential. Above all else, we want someone with excellent communication skills, good numeracy skills, an honest and likeable manner, and the ability to work in a role that requires constant attention to detail.
