Overview
New Start have an exciting position as a Hostel Support Practitioner to join our Adults Services team based in Liverpool. Joining us on a full time, permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £19,500 per annum. You will play a key role in supporting vulnerable individuals and promoting positive outcomes in their lives. Working hours: Monday to Friday Week 1 - 8:00 to 16:00 Week 2 - 15.30 to 22.30 New Start is a family-run, not-for-profit organisation providing residential and supported accommodation services for vulnerable adults, families, and young people. As our Hostel Support Practitioner, you will provide practical and emotional support to residents accessing the service to achieve the following outcomes: - Reduced harm associated with substance misuse - Reduced offending and anti-social behaviour - Improved engagement with treatment services - Improved health and wellbeing - Increased participation in employment, education, and training - Positive planned move on to permanent accommodation within 6-18 months Responsibilities as our Hostel Support Practitioner : - Support service users to maintain contact and/or engage with specialist agencies (substance misuse services, mental health services, benefits agencies etc.) - Support residents to become tenancy ready to move onto suitable accommodation - Oversee the safety and security of the building, residents, and visitors at the service - Report any necessary incidents to the project manager as appropriate - Ensure that referrals to the service are encouraged through effective joint working and managed efficiently within specific timescales to ensure maximum occupancy levels are achieved and maintained at all times What we’re looking for in our Hostel Support Practitioner : - Min. 1 years’ experience in a similar post supporting vulnerable individuals in either an outreach or a hostel setting (desired) - NVQ Level 3 in Housing/Health and Social Care and be able to accurately record information within case notes and support plans (desired) - Experience of working with vulnerable individuals particularly where they have experienced a risk of homelessness - Experience supporting vulnerable individuals through crisis or periods of change - Experience of assessing the needs of vulnerable adults specifically with those who are at risk of homelessness - Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies both voluntary and statutory - Experience of case work and support planning, risk assessments and key work - Experience of resettlement programmes and or move on planning - An understanding of the impact of factors such as single homelessness, harm reduction, domestic violence, mental health and complex needs on individuals - A good understanding of current Health & Safety issues and the issues that might arise in a residential environment - Excellent communication skills; a calm and confident manner If you believe you are the right candidate for the role as our Hostel Support Practitioner , then please click ‘apply’ now We’d love to hear from you.
