Overview
We require a Yard Person for a stunning residential development in Lewisham, South East London. As a Yard Person you will be responsible for keeping all external areas of the buildings clean and tidy and collecting rubbish on a daily basis. We're looking for someone who has similar previous experience and a positive work attitude. Key duties: Collect all loose rubbish from ground (front & rear), paths and terraced areas including bushes in the garden areas. Collect rubbish from refuse area next to bins place in bins and rotate bins, in preparation of the collection by the local authority refuse team. Check bin rooms sweep and mop as detailed in schedule each day. To walk the building in the morning and evening - and various intervals during the day. Inspecting for cleanliness, repair and security. All defects should be reported to the building manager. It is important that the fire escapes are included within these patrols. Ensuring all external doors, fire exit doors and bin store doors are kept closed, and where applicable locked at all times. This includes the fire exit doors. (Bin store doors to be unlocked when refuse collection is due.) Check carpets and vacuum as necessary, ensure entrances and staircases are clean at all times. Cleaning of staircases as per schedule. Inspect common areas for any obstructions or hazards and report it to Building Manager. Clean glass/mirrors within lift carriages. Ensure that the Concierge desk is clean at all times. (fully dusted/polished and tidy) To check the operation of the lift and report any faults. Ensure passenger lifts are thoroughly cleaned (buttons, ledges, floors & mirrors). Clean entry phone panel. Wipe any light marks from the walls in the entrance, hallway and stairwells. Visual inspection of all drains and gutters (including roof area) to ensure they are free from rubbish/debris/obstruction. Check locks of all communal doors and gates to ensure fully function. (Notify Building Manager if there are any defects.) Sweep external terrace area/surround of building, including external metal work & louvers (hose/wash down where necessary.) Carry out weeding of all areas as per schedule on a Wednesday and other days of the week is other tasks have been completed. This includes all walkways and communal areas including the garden beds. To be courteous and helpful to all resident as well as to residents' staff and guests and to contractors employed by the residents of the building. Prepare and keep and inventory of all cleaning supplies and equipment on site. To generally maintain records of central stores for the building (cleaning supplies, garden tools, gardening supplies etc.) in a well organised way, ensuring that an appropriate quantity are always available. To keep all stock, material and equipment away from public access view/reach. Clear footpaths and steps of snow and ice in adverse conditions. To be flexible and undertake duties, within reason, as required by the Managing Agents and/or the board. To take care of the gardening on a weekly basis as detailed on the schedule provided. Water plants and garden twice a week. Be aware of any unusual damage (e.g. Possible break-in) and report to the Building Manager. Carry out maintenance work around the development as instructed by senior management. Cleaning of exterior and interior main entrance windows including the gym and hand rail windows. General You are expected to be flexible and undertake reasonable additional duties as required by the Concierge or Building Manager. To report any defect or health and safety concern, no matter what its nature, to the Building Manager/Concierge. Whilst on duty you should be of tidy personal appearance, and wearing the uniform provided.
