Mulberry Health is a developing healthcare provider based in locations throughout Sheffield Chesterfield Stockport and Gainsborough who are looking for healthcare professional to join their growing team of therapists to support them in the delivery of PIP assessments. You will be required to utilise current clinical knowledge and natural skills of empathy, listening and observation with claimants of PIP benefit to conduct an assessment of how disabilities or impairments have an impact on activities of daily living. As part of the Government’s welfare reform agenda, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) are introducing a new benefit called the Personal Independence Payment (PIP). Replacing the Disability Living Allowance (DLA), PIP is designed to better reflect today’s understanding of disability and is focused on helping with the extra costs disabled people face to lead independent lives. Unlike DLA, where claimants are expected to assess their own eligibility by way of a claim form, the majority of those claiming PIP will have a detailed, face-to-face assessment with an experienced Healthcare Professional. As a Disability Analyst you will: ·Conduct Medical assessments and examinations with PIP claimants ·To analyse and interpret clinical information and medical evidence and write a report in a professional and concise manner ·Provide comprehensive reports to enable decision makers at DWP to make informed decisions regarding benefit claims. ·Use IT software programmes to support clinical decision making when undertaking file-work and examinations and to write assessment reports. ·Ensure that professional practice standards and "best practice" are maintained in all areas of work. ·Work to agreed productivity, quality targets and standards and to respond positively to feedback. ·To be motivated, show commitment and be flexible at all times. Essential Skills: ·A minimum of two years post registration experience as a RGN Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic with a licence to practice. ·Registered with the NMC/ HCPC with a valid PIN ·Broad based experience assessment and report writing skills. ·Previous experience of disability assessment and experience of clinical decision making desirable (e.g. A & E, NHS Direct) ·IT literate with experience of using a range of software. To have completed ECDL or equivalent is desirable. Skills and Attributes: ·Empathy, listening and observation skills to conduct thorough PIP assessments in a timely manner and that meet quality and customer service standards. ·Ability to multi-task demonstrating that you are able to listen, assess and synthesise information, take notes and have the confidence to control an assessment. ·Have highly developed both oral and written communications skills ·The ability to create detailed assessment reports to meet quality and productivity standards. ·Evidence of responding to unexpected changes by adopting a flexible approach to work ·Ability to travel to a range of locations as the business requires. ·Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team ·Self-Motivated and committed Training: Full training is given to allow Healthcare Professional to become specialists in the field of Disability Assessment. Two weeks training which will be a combination of On-Line Training and Attendance of a 10 day course. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau Check.
