Job Title: Category Manager Division: Commercial Services Location: Newport/Titchfield Key Responsibilities From detailed knowledge and experience of the market and the organisational Commercial strategy, works with senior stakeholders to develop and implement category strategies, challenging wants over needs, ensuring Value for Money (VfM). Uses analysis to make effective decisions, applies commercial principles within the boundaries of contract law. Presents conclusions when given evidence and is able to evaluate the relative strengths to confidently make good decisions resolving Commercial and Legal issues in collaboration with experts articulating key risks. Able to develop options for business cases, including articulating associated benefits and producing supporting arguments for the preferred option. Drives compliance with contractual commitments, anticipating and mitigating problems to ensure effective delivery. At a delivery level holds both suppliers and customers accountable for living up to their contractual commitments. Leads on mediation and dispute resolution and escalates as required. Provides effective leadership and guidance to a commercial team managing a diverse supplier base, engaging with staff to bring the vision to life, coaching and developing staff to improve personal/team effectiveness, dealing with difficult situations and championing new ways of working including flexibly and innovatively to drive and implement change Person Specification Corporate Solutions - Can demonstrate an in-depth comprehension of the supply chain for Corporate Services, Data and Survey requirements. This includes knowledge of the market to ensure supply chain risks are minimised, and the optimal delivery of existing suppliers is ensured; including through the comprehensive use of reporting and managing information Demonstrates business acumen and commercial judgement, delivering commercial activity with a strong understanding of how value is delivered throughout the commercial cycle and an understanding of the potential risks and issues that may arise at various key stages Provides a strong knowledge of contract law and public procurement regulations, advising on and applying procurement policies, processes and governance mechanisms Expert - Has knowledge and experience of the capability. Is a recognised specialist and advisor in the capability including organisational needs, generation of ideas, method, tools and leading or guiding others in best practice. Working Knowledge - Applies knowledge and experience of the capability, including tools and techniques, adopting those more appropriate for the organisation.
