Overview
Become a Trainee Data Centre Engineer with Capita IT & Networks in West Malling, Kent: Great Opportunity to join our 24x7 Shift team, where we will provide you with training and can offer varied progression routes. Seeking applicants that have exposure to 1st line support and who want to progress their IT Career further with us You will be responsible for providing first level fault diagnosis to our clients and perform monitoring of IT Business- Critical infrastructure. You will be required to triage reported faults, troubleshoot events in the first instance to try and achieve first point of contact resolution, but also escalate and work with Technical shift and 3rd line engineers where required. Working as part of the 24x7 Shift team, the team will have responsibility for ensuring that they meet the agreed service levels, follow processes and procedures and that all the requirements of the Shift are met. The Shift Pattern for this role will be 4 Day shifts / 3 Rest Days / 4 Night shifts / 5 rest days. Key Responsibilities Event monitoring of Infrastructure systems and Applications Triage and Investigation of reported events and Incidents through monitoring and ticketing toolsets. Monitoring and completion of Batch workloads Completion of operational reports within agreed timescales as directed by the Shift Manager Performing patching using automated toolsets and WSUS for specific clients. Patch failure investigation and escalate where required Site Security & Environmental monitoring Media Management and Offshore tape administration Day-to-day responsibility for the security of the Operations Bridge Room environment. Monitoring of the computer room environment, ensuring that the they are secure and stable. Meeting client defined SLA's when responding to incidents within Remedy. Escalation of calls to other support teams or 3rd parties as necessary. What You'll Bring: Basic understanding on Windows Server OS (2003-2016) Basic understanding of Data Centre environments Proven interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbally Displays a methodical and logical approach to tasks Team Player, able to work on their own and with others. Planning and organisational skills Problem solving skills Ability to meet deadlines and cope with pressure in both reactive and proactive scenarios. Consistent willingness to learn new skills to advance themselves. Being able to obtain SC Clearance.
