Overview

Network Team Leader – Norwich, Norfolk - £40-50k plus on call allowance, package My client is looking for a talented IT professional to Lead a small team of Network Engineers. You will use your own technical abilities, and those of your team to constantly improve the reliability and security of all Network services. This will involve a lot more than proactive maintenance, but also to suggest and investigate new technical solutions by creating formal proposals with costs and time analysis. Take responsibility for the smooth running of the Networking area of the IT department. This will include creating and updating policies and procedures, and managing 3rd party support contracts, and other services required by the IT department. Manage Your own network projects and supervise the running of the network teams projects. This will include creating formal project plans. The Plans will include timelines that indicate key milestones and identify any risks or impact to other services and solutions. Projects will need to be completed within agreed timescales, and budgets. You should have expert knowledge and over 3 years’ experience of the following technologies Good understanding of TCP/IP & OSI model Network administration supporting core business environments Knowledge of LAN switch configuration on Cisco Switches Knowledge of configuration on Cisco Routers including routing protocols Knowledge of Firewall & VPNs Experience of Network Management systems/platforms Design, testing & implementation of changes to networks, including software updates, hardware changes and configuration changes Good understanding of Network Security Administration of VOIP Telephony systems Strong written & verbal communication skills You should also have the following skills and behaviors Previous experience of managing a small team in an IT environment A can-do positive, pro-active attitude Ability to manage IT projects, through design, implementations, and delivery on time, and within budget. This includes creating and updating detailed project plans and performing cost analysis as required. Have excellent listening, interpersonal and communication skills. Being able to communicate effectively with all levels of the business, and 3rd parties. Using both written and verbal communication methods. This will include but is not limited to creating formal written reports and policies, as well as engaging in meetings, and conference calls. Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks while under pressure. Take responsibility for business-critical issues. Ensuring that not only are the issues resolved in an efficient manner, but that all relevant parties (Management \ customer services \ customer) are kept informed of progress. A can-do positive, pro-active attitude. Someone who not only identifies issues, but also looks to actively find solutions.
