This position will report to the Customer Support Manager at Templecombe, the successful applicant will principally provide on-site technical support at RAF Lossiemouth to Thales Integrated Airspace-protection Systems (IAS) delivered systems. They will deliver fault diagnosis, incident reporting and corrective maintenance in response to reported incidents and scheduled preventive maintenance actions that fall within the scope of the contract. In addition, they will assist in the preparation and rollout of hardware and software improvements routinely to facilitate these activities. The objective will be to consistently sustain system availability performance at the levels demanded by our Customers, wherever their systems are located. Located in Northern Scotland, you will also be responsible to support other IAS installed systems located principally in Scotland, plus the UK and occasionally overseas as required. Key Responsibilities: Undertake scheduled maintenance of equipment, including fault diagnosis & local repair Manage the servicing and repair of COTS equipment. Undertake Inspection and testing under project guidance Provide 1st line advice and guidance to users on the correct and proper operational use and functionality of the installed equipment. Resolve locally and report where possible, all user queries, incidents or observations concerning the operation of the equipment. Provide local on-site management of approved subcontractors. Liaise with management and support engineers in order to provide user feedback to the business. Identify potential enhancements to the current system. Skills qualification and experience Essential: Ability to self-manage and prioritize time and tasking. Extensive knowledge of PC and peripheral electronic equipment failure diagnostic and repairs. Proven experience in supporting complex Electro / Mechanical systems Proven experience with Networking (WAN & LAN) diagnostic and repair skills. Basic mechanical and electrical engineering skills. Demonstrated competence in communicating using the MS Office Standard suite of programs (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Windows 7 tools. Ability to generate and deliver timely and accurate oral and written reports concerning equipment condition and serviceability to varying management levels. Currently holding security clearance at SC level or be eligible to obtain this. Current Full UK driving licence. Desirable Experience of working in a military and MoD environment supporting ground based C4I Ground Mission Support systems and capabilities. Experience or an awareness of one of the following engineering disciplines such as fibre optics, radio, power, and physical/mechanical. Experience in Managing Windows Server 2008 applications Qualified to IET 17th Regulations, Electrical Installation checks In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
