DS568: IT Network Engineer Location: Gloucester Salary: £25000 - £30000 Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an IT Network Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. The main responsibility is to Plan, install and support on-site communication and interactive services for events, and contribute to the development of next generation solutions and business opportunities. Applications from ex-military candidates are encouraged, however all candidates will be given due consideration. Duties and Responsibilities: Design and deploy a range of temporary networks, including wireless and wired environments. Create and manage the implementation of detailed project plans ensuring event requirements are met within required time frames and budgets. Liaise closely with internal stakeholders to understand the challenges and requirements for their various venues, clients and events. Provide regular and clear insight to internal/external stakeholders and end users regarding solutions and capabilities, thereby understanding and managing expectations. Provide on-site technical support during events, monitoring and trouble-shooting the infrastructure as required. Provide technical “back of house” support, assisting with the creation and production of reports from the various products being used. Collaborate with marketing department, providing solutions to support brand activation on site. Support Concessions Account Managers and divisional heads with technical input to client meetings, business proposals and tenders in terms of event and network solutions and design. Provide detailed and clear briefings prior to the start of projects, ensuring the whole team has all the information they require and fully understand the objectives and standards for that event. Supervise all aspects of your team’s performance; monitoring, encouraging, coaching, guiding and leading by example. Oversee the welfare of your team at all times (both on and off site), ensuring they operate to safe systems of work, receive appropriate breaks and are treated respectfully. Demonstrable experience of designing and managing WiFi networks within high density environments. Detailed understanding and practical experience of multiple types of connections eg DSL, Leased Line, Satellite, Radio, GSM. Detailed understanding of IP networks and routing. Good planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload appropriately and meet challenging deadlines. Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective business and colleague relationships. Ability to supervise and lead others including managing performance and coaching. Good administrative and project management skills. Understanding of, and commitment to, safe site working practices. Willingness to work unsociable hours that are necessary in the events industry (working hours will ordinarily be 5 days out of every 7 including weekends and long days at times). Full UK driving licence (with no more than 6 points for minor convictions). Desirable: Ability to work in and react to a changing environment, and respond to problems as they arise. Experience of working in a retail environment, with good working knowledge of payment solutions and EPOS. Understanding of fibre cabling. Training/qualifications in site Health and Safety.
