Overview
Creative Support is a national, fast growing not-for-profit organisation providing support to individuals with a wide range of care needs. Our services focus on promoting recovery, wellbeing and greater independence. We are looking for a Waking Night Support Worker to work in Whalley Range, Manchester. You will be supporting a transgender male at their home and in the community who has support needs including autism, learning disabilities, epilepsy and mental health needs. You will provide respectful personal care and work in a person centred and anti-discriminatory manner, ensuring that the rights and entitlements of the service user are respected at all times. The service user is very easy going and has a good sense of humour. He also enjoys participating in a variety of interests which he may require support with which include music, particularly the genres of rap, hip-hop and grime, attending sensory rooms, collecting teddy bears and watching TV such as Thomas the Tank Engine, In the Night Garden, The Goldbergs, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, American Dad and Ice Hockey. The service user would like to be supported by someone who is comfortable working around cats as he does have a cat in his home. He also has acute sensory issues so ideally needs staff to avoid the use of strong perfume whilst working with him as this gives him headaches and sensory overload. Candidates will require excellent communication skills. Experience and knowledge of the service user’s conditions are not a requirement as long as you have an open mind and are empathetic warm, patient, understanding, reliable and non-judgemental. The possession of a clean drivers licence and willingness to drive service user vehicles (a manual) would be desirable for this role as the service user has a mobility car and struggles greatly with public transport. In return we offer a wide range of benefits to ensure job satisfaction. This includes: • QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2, 3 and 5 • Free life assurance • Pension with company contribution • A range of employee discounts
