What we are looking for: Do you have an appetite for challenging the 'norm' and take pride in developing highly available, secure and robust systems? As our Principal DevOps Engineer at Direct Line Group, you will contribute to our quickly-evolving, fail-fast agile environment You'll take ownership of its infrastructure for low-latency, highly-available, machine learning solutions within AWS, focusing on automation, monitoring and security. You will be passionate about Software Craftsmanship and Clean Code as well as Test Driven Development and have a good experience of CI and CD. Who you'll be working with: We are Darwin; A unique insurance brand at DLG that focuses on new technologies like cloud computing and machine learning. You will be working in close conjunction with a very capable team of data engineers, software engineers, DevOps engineers and scientists on a ground-breaking new product which just launched in April 2019 This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds: the buzz of being at the forefront of technology in a start-up and the resources and stability of a large and profitable financial environment. What you'll be doing: Contributing to architectural designs, building & improving continuous integration pipelines whilst working closely with developers to advise on standard methodology, and discuss security protocols with the wider business. You will detail process flows & data transfers within the environments whilst staying on top of AWS offerings and implementing new services if applicable. In depth knowledge and hands-on experience of Amazon Web Services. Used Docker both within software development and production deployment. Experience with Linux, Jenkins, Git, LDAP, Terraform Experience with various relational databases, e.g. Postgres, MySQL. Deployed microservice architectures to production. The ability to sell the benefits of the cloud over on-premises architecture. A history of working with Java and/or Python. A strong understanding of networks and their security layers. Strong communication skills for transferring knowledge. Experience working within Agile delivery teams. The ability to justify technology choices to the wider business.
