Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established, dynamic occupational therapy team based at Cygnet Hospital Colchester. Cygnet Hospital Colchester is a 57 bed service providing a range of intensive support and rehabilitation services for men with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or mental health needs, and women with a diagnosis of personality disorder and complex mental health needs. This post is full time 40 hours, 5 days per week. There is also potential scope for Saturday hours - this would need to be discussed at interview stage. We are looking for a fantastic Occupational Therapy Assistant, to help shape and develop the Occupational Therapy service at Cygnet Hospital Colchester. The Successful Candidate: You will support the occupational therapist in delivering a high standard of evidenced based OT interventions, carrying out OT assessments and report writing. Knowledge of the Recovery Approaches and Model of Human Occupation is desirable, whilst experience of working with service users in a secure environment would be advantageous. The individual will be expected to assist the service users to meet his or her needs via the implementation of a therapeutic activity program. Will co-operate with all departments in ensuring a safe environment is maintained for all service users. The individual will assist the Senior Occupational Therapist in ensuring that the department meets all the identified needs and problems of the service users. To be actively involved in assisting in the planning and implementation of Recovery and therapeutic activities programs and when required undertake duties delegated by the Senior Occupational Therapist to ensure the efficient running of the department. Key attributes include awareness of boundary setting, an understanding of risk management and a positive can do attitude. We will provide clinical supervision by the Occupational Therapist and training opportunities to support professional development. From you, we’ll need commitment and drive to assist in providing the highest quality of care. Interpersonal skills are essential for this post, as you’ll be working within a tight-knit team and liaising with a wide variety of people. We will provide you with ongoing opportunities to hone new skills and further your career, as well as providing you with an environment where teams are supportive and supported. There is potential for this role to be considered as an apprenticeship programme for those looking to progress into a career of Occupational Therapy.
