People Who Care

We can label a job in healthcare with as many fancy titles as we want i.e Healthcare Support Worker, Support Worker, Care Worker etc. But basically these titles just lead to one thing - 'People that Care' Working to support another person with their day to day life is the most satisfying role. Imagine you are helping another person with an activity to stimulate their minds and bodies; you are taking a person for a walk to get some fresh air; helping an individual to get the right nutrition they need to live well; watching and assisting a person with their rehab exercises so they can get home - the job can be endless and yet every smile you get back, every thanks you receive, will be enough to make those difficult times easier to deal with. Because be under no illusions, this isn't a role for those that want an easy life. We have to be there 24/7, 7 days a week, so there is shift work, nights, weekends involved, but these can fit around your existing lifestyle. Our full time staff work 34.5 hrs - so these could be completed over 3 long days or nights and then you have the rest of the week for you. You might be at University and want some Bank Hours over weekends. We are open to seeing what you can offer us and what fits in with what we need. Matthews Specialist Brain Injury and Rehab unit is unique. We have those who live and stay with us from all backgrounds, all with their own important stories. What they have in common is the want to get better and get home. For some, this may be a reality, for others their journey is not so clear cut. For those of us who help them with their day to day living, we are there to assist no matter what their path. We do this with patience, calmness and our excellent training ensures that we do it safely.
