Overview

MASS are looking for someone with a broad and deep understanding of modelling software and the RF and EO domains with sound technical knowledge on current and near future systems. The selected candidate will be an experienced Engineering Manager and Systems Engineer with the capability of developing thought leadership in the defence domain. You will have an excellent understanding of the support environment that these systems need to be operationally effective. The successful candidate will have the ability to liaise directly with customers to understand and capture their requirements and then develop viable technical support solutions that increase functionality and capability. Responsible for the following tasks; Technical solution production Technical solutions detailed in work and product breakdown structures Production of engineering management plans Production of SOR / SOW (as required) to support solution delivery Production of use cases that support storyboards Identify appropriate tools and processes that support delivery and reduce engineering overhead Develop a common modelling architecture in the RF and EO domain Provision of requirements analysis Provision of requirements management Production of sub system requirement specifications Production of internal functional and non-functional requirements to enable detailed design Production of top-level design and documentation for a common modelling architecture Provision of engineering and architecture input into review boards Ensuring engineering tasks are correctly booked and managed Ensuring customer / Design Authority input is captured and documented Support the production and maintenance of a roadmap for a common modelling architecture Communicating system designs to the Technical Head Reporting integrated system metrics and production of KPI, s to Technical Head Management and supervision of technical teams as required Mentoring of junior engineers Undertake other tasks to support the EWOS team where required; Comply with Company policies and procedures (including the Business Management System); Adhere to the MASS values Competencies General Profile Requires specialised depth and/or breadth of knowledge in an area of work Leads others to solve complex problems Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations May lead departmental teams or projects as required Job Functional Knowledge - Requires specialised depth and/or breadth of expertise within own knowledge area or field Business Expertise - Interprets MASS’s internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes and services Leadership - May lead departmental teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk and/or complexity Problem Solving - Leads others to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions Impact - Impacts the achievement of operational, project and service objectives; work is guided by divisional policies Interpersonal Skills - Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view Essential: Systems Engineering Systems modelling Requirements management Test and acceptance of integrated systems Full engineering delivery lifecycle Desirable: Knowledge of subject matter Degree qualified This role is based in Salisbury and may involve some occasional travel.
