Overview

Senior Systems Engineer Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area Package: £33,850 - £47,500 dependent on experience plus contributory pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, additional benefits and an excellent work / life balance including a 9-day working fortnight and flexible working hours (role dependent). Our role in keeping the nation safe is to manufacture, maintain and develop the warheads for Trident, the UK's ultimate deterrent. We also use our nuclear know-how and technical expertise to provide innovative solutions that support the UK's counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction activities. We currently have roles for Systems Engineers at all stages of the system lifecycle. Our Systems Engineers provide expertise across science, engineering, technology and infrastructure projects to help understand complexity, integrate the technical effort and balance risks, working collaboratively with project managers and technical specialists to deliver. You may be focussed on developing systems for now and the future: · eliciting and translating stakeholder needs; · creating concepts and architectures and analysing options; · enabling design realisation and verification; · ensuring enterprise and product integration; · planning and overseeing verification & validation activities, or; · managing approval and acceptance. Or you might be underpinning in-service systems: · ensuring they are supported during operations; · assessing and assuring their performance through life, or; · preparing for and implementing decommissioning and disposal. You will have demonstrable experience in leading systems engineering activities or applying systems engineering processes, methods and techniques on multi-disciplinary projects. A 'systems thinker', you will be curious with a desire to learn and understand new things and have the ability to consider the big picture whilst recognising the detail of, and interactions between, system elements. You should be a clear and concise communicator, able to interact with a range of stakeholders to both discover and share key information. An appreciation of project management and control, safety and dependability is desirable, as is an awareness of MBSE tools and practices.
