Occupational Therapy Assistant

Nelson House is a modern and spacious 30 bed locked rehabilitation recovery service for men and women with mental illness. By having a focus on the development of skills for independence the unit provides a positive step for patients, many whose next step will be living in the community. It helps patients learn new ways of managing their conditions and symptoms with the aim of helping to prevent any future relapse. For patients with challenging behaviours, Nelson House helps them to learn skills to change their response to anxiety and distress. We are looking for an experienced individual to work with our male patients. As part of your role, you will be responsible for providing high quality service under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. You will support with the delivery of a full ward programme which will include facilitating groups and managing a case load of patients for individual therapy sessions. You will be involve in Risk Assessments and Management. You will have the opportunity to work creatively and flexibly to develop and implement innovative practice and service developments. You will also be responsible for inputting data on Carenotes, and completing 12 week timetable.
