About the Role This job role is a critical part of Cadent’s commitment to minimise the financial and reputational risks associated with street works non-compliance and to support the Cadent objective of achieving street works excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient supervision of ERO Repair support driver activities and supporting operational colleagues as a street works management and escalation point within a geographical area of the operational UK Gas Distribution Network. You will ensure these are carried out safely and efficiently and provide visible frontline engagement with field force, customers and key stakeholders to deliver out vision, culture and priorities of safety, compliance, customer, performance excellence and efficient workload delivery Key Accountabilities · Embed a culture of continuous improvement through the use of performance excellence, implementing a visual performance management, and problem-solving techniques · Supervise an effective and highly motivated regional workforce, delivering year-on-year cost efficiencies and improvements in productivity and resource utilisation whilst maintain world-class operational excellence, safety and customer satisfaction · Carry out the Repair team workplace inspections to demonstrate compliance with NRSWA Safety Code and the required standards/company procedures for dealing with public reported escapes · Ensure individuals comply with policy and work procedures and achieve company standards of service throughout all activities · Management of accurate TMA Permit applications, 2 hours after and planned notices raised in conjunction with essential Gas network maintenance works. Including the resolution of technical challenges from local authorities · Manage sickness/absence and low-level disciplinary procedures for direct reports, to ensure compliance with company policy · Act as a public face of Cadent when responding to complaints and enquirers where required · Share, promote and facilitate/implement technical and procedural best practice for street works including innovations · Contribute to an operation standby rota, being accountable for onsite incident supervisor and investigation in adherence with EM72 and EM77 procedures in response to reports requiring escalations ie fire, explosion, suspected CO poisoning and evacuation · Monitor workforce operational performance to ensure all objectives are met and that problems are anticipated and resolved · Collate and produce NRSWA performance pack for Street Works Specialist, highlighting non-compliance trends against current legislation · Proactively track various street works MI reports daily, take accountability for, distribute and chase actions to Level 6 Network Supervisors, Team Leaders and Reinstatement process across Operations to minimise the financial risk of Section 74 overstay fines · Represent Cadent at a NW regional level in one of the technical sub groups of NW HAUC · Provide direct coaching and feedback on street works technical support to operational teams, supervisors and managers · Be responsible for the resolution of Highway Authority issues related to street works quality failures and disputes, Section 58 restrictions, Reinstatement Defects, Section 81 Defective Apparatus · Assist the Operational Street Works Specialist in identifying opportunities to reduce street works costs, both direct costs and the costs associated with failure · Ensure that any changes to street works legislation are suitably cascaded and briefed to Network Supervisors and Team Leaders · Responsible for a fleet of operational vans including wheeled plant used in the maintenance works of a gas network operator About You You will possess the following skills, knowledge and qualifications: · In depth knowledge of NRSWA primary legislation including all relevant supporting codes of practice · High level knowledge of Utility operational works and the impact to Highways · Evidence to demonstrate a clear understanding of eliminating the risks associated with site safety as applies to the Safety at Street Works Code of Practice · Proven experience of completing audits on Signing, Lighting and Guarding of live sites · Strong understanding of OSGEM 2 · Strong understanding of HSE regulations relevant to role · Good understanding of planning / resource management · Excellent IT skills on full Microsoft Office application suite · Experience of working with Utility IT systems SAP, EToN and Click · Proven experience of providing Street Works support for operational teams in a pressurised environment · Experience of working effectively within a team and ability to work to own initiative · The ability to effectively prioritise workload · Evidence of maintaining productive relationships with key stakeholders internal and external including Highway Authorities and Contractor Partners · Networks with similar organisations to seek out and implement best practices across the utility sector · Competent at producing technical documents including process maps · Full UK Driving Licence · GCSE’s in English, Matchs and IT.NRSWA Supervisor Card · Safety Qualification (such as NEBOSH, IOSH Certificate Benefits At Cadent we’ve got a whole host of standard and flexible benefits.
