Finance Administrator Hourly Rate - £11.50 Duration - 2 Months Initially Location - Huddersfield IR35 - Inside (Must Use an Umbrella Company) Job Purpose: To provide an efficient financial administrative service in respect of our client's finance activities, including research grant and externally funded projects. Main Duties and Responsibilities: 1.To promote robust and efficient financial administration within our client related to all finance matters, including research grant/externally funded projects; 2.To undertake all the financial processes, including for example: purchase order requisitions, sales order requisitions, expenses claim forms, and print room requisitions; 3.To manage the raising of sales invoices, collection of time sheets, and collection of payments from external companies, where related to projects; 4.To use competently and proficiently our client's financial system, so that all financial data is efficiently and accurately processed; 5.To assist with the development and updating of procedures, protocols and policy, ensuring that all financial transactions comply with the financial regulations of our client; 6.To regularly monitor the relevant cost centres and budgets and work closely with our clients Research Admin Support Manager on identifying any significant variances, or issues; 7.To make bookings for conferences, hire cars, hotels, lunches and travel arrangements for staff as and when required; 8.To provide financial information and expertise in respect to bidding and costing, and to provide clear financial reports/data to the academic staff as requested, to help them understand their financial picture; 9.To provide detailed financial administrative support where bids and contracts require it, working closely with our client's Business Development Manager and our clients Bids, Contracts and Compliance team; 10.To maintain full and accurate records for all projects and relevant cost centres, so that the information can be readily supplied to any internal or external auditor as required; 11.To maintain excellent working relationships with both internal and external customers/co-workers; 12.To undertake any other duty pertinent to the grade of the post that might be requested at any time. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes: Current, significant experience in a similar finance role, covering the full range of financial practices such as purchasing, sales, month end reconciliations and variance analysis Current and significant experience of working with a computerised accounting system in a large multi-user environment Recent experience of interpreting complex data/use of databases Recent experience of interpreting complex financial information and communicating this to non-financial managers Recent experience of operating administrative systems Recent experience of managing a varied and demanding administrative workload and developing complex administrative systems and processes to support tasks or projects Experience of working in a public sector environment Recent experience of costing procedures, especially external funding/costing/bids in a public sector environment Application, Interview and Test Skills & Attributes Ability to present financial information to non-accountants in a way which is understood Good organisational skills and the ability to use administrative systems to ensure the efficient and effective management of a varied workload Ability to forward plan effectively (weeks, months) and work pro-actively Ability to work accurately with excellent attention to detail Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines Good communication skills, written and verbal Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people A flexible approach to working practices Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team Commitment to customer service principles To be able to learn quickly and "hit the ground running"
