Overview

Start Date: September 2020 Pay: Main/UPS depending on experience We are looking to appoint an experienced Teacher for SEN and Disability (SEND) to join an enthusiastic, dedicated team supporting high quality teaching and learning for children and young people in Canterbury. The successful candidate will have QTS, exemplary classroom skills and have, or be willing to undertake, additional qualifications and training. As a special needs teacher you will provide high quality teaching within a classroom setting with a varying range of needs. You will deliver a full and challenging curriculum, differentiated for the learners. You will be able to demonstrate evidence of recent continuous professional development and how this may be applied within this specialist area. The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to demonstrate successful sustained experience of working collaboratively with parents/carers, teaching and non-teaching staff including SENCOs and/or members of the Management teams as well as other professionals through integrated working. The successful applicant must be able to work as part of a team and be able to work independently. We are a friendly and caring school situated in the historic city of Canterbury. St Nicholas operates on a number of sites and works closely with partner schools and Canterbury College to provide a wide range of opportunities for all its pupils. St Nicholas is also the base for the Outreach team of teachers who support children with special needs in mainstream schools.
