Consultant Physicist
Overview
A new opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Physicist. We are seeking somebody degree qualified with a 2:1 or 1st from a reputable university to join our client, based on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border. We would expect the successful candidate to have in-depth specialisms coupled with a more general capability to model physical systems and to be able to demonstrate an ability to analyse and to solve real world system level problems / challenges. Essential skills: • Applicants must be able to hold a UK security clearance. • Broad interest in physics and applied science. • Curiosity, imagination and creativity. • Solid understanding of physical principles. • Strong experimental problem-solving skills. • Effective communication and team-working skills. Desirable skills: • Algorithm development. • Mathematical modelling (e.g. using tools such as Comsol or Matlab). • Post-graduate research achievements in experimental physics. • Experience in technology/product development for commercial applications. • Coding experience (e.g. C/C++, Java, Python) • Post-graduate research achievements in experimental physics and/or • Experience in technology/product development for commercial applications. • Background in optical physics or material physics In addition to the above, an ability to work beyond the purely technical and to encompass the broader skills essential to a vibrant consulting business is highly desirable. Good oral and written communication skills are essential. The client undertakes extremely varied and challenging projects encompassing a wide variety of technical areas; an unusual /"niche" track record is always of interest.
