Overview

As a hands on Network Technical Lead you will provide technical leadership to the Network Engineering Team. You will provide technical expertise and governance to ensure high quality technical solutions. The Network Engineering team is a key enabler to the capability of the business and this is an exciting opportunity to play a major role in shaping the direction of the Network function. Working with the latest technology, your expertise will help us develop the network platform to meet the technical challenges created by the continued growth of the business. Main Responsibilities: Providing technical design and governance for the network engineering domain. Leading complex projects as a technical expert for your area. Acting as technical design authority ensuring interoperability of new/emerging technologies with existing infrastructure. Playing a key role in our development of an internal cloud platform with SDN. Creating and executing some of our more complex change requests. Designing and documenting processes to automate and orchestrate network tasks where appropriate. Acting as a senior technical escalation point and a mentor to engineers. Producing and maintaining accurate technical designs, standards and process documentation for network components and services. Playing a leading role in setting business as usual operational standards. Sharing and discussing ideas with your peers to aid collaborative decision making. Preferred Skills and Experience: Proven ability to design complex enterprise-class multi-vendor network solutions, with advanced knowledge and expertise across a wide range of switching and routing technologies. Expertise in multiple network disciplines with experience of creating design documentation (low level design (LLD), high level design (HLD), network automation, mitigating risk, disaster recovery and network solution governance). Cisco certified. Excellent understanding of routing protocols, particularly BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS, along with VXLAN and EVPN datacentre technologies. Experience in high-availability network in load balanced, n-tier application environments. Solid understanding of WAN technologies. Experience with software defined networking and affiliated technologies to support modern platform stacks such as OpenStack, VMWare and Kubernetes. Excellent awareness of network and security best practice with significant experience in designing compliant solutions that balance the need for security against business agility. Broad operational experience having worked with numerous vendor platforms and technologies. Broad thinking skills that go beyond point solutions, instead thinking about integration, dependency mapping and efficient operation management during the life of a system or service.
