Level 2 Infrastructure Engineer Position Summary The role holder works with little or no supervision and is a knowledge leader with a well rounded technical experience across a wide range of systems and supports less experienced members of the community in maintaining the availability of the IT service experienced by the business. Responsibilities Provide assistance and escalation point for the Level 1 Support Engineer Aligns, defines and enforces standards for all IT related infrastructure support activities such as: Corrective and preventative maintenance through incident, problem and change management (ITIL) processes Maintains all systems, applications, security and monitoring tools configurations Maintains the backup plan Maintains the storage and server cluster environments Recommends software and hardware upgrades, patches and/or replacement Provide patching plan and schedule with agreed timelines and budget for the estate Provides technical support and investigations of IT related problems and coordinate the implementation of the appropriate solution with the central support team. Education A levels or equivalent Special consideration may be given to applicants holding a MCSE certifications. Years of experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a commercial IT environment Languages Proficient in English – Written and Spoken. Ability to coach and mentor support engineers to develop operational capability. Ability to highlight and manage service risks and own action remedial service improvement actions Ability to lead action plans for key infrastructure projects to meet industry standard governance objectives e.g. PCI DSS and ISO27000 Qualifications Strong expertise and experience with tiered storage and storage networks Experience of applying Windows patches on a large scale Strong experience with Microsoft server troubleshooting, and daily activities associated with the management and administration of all network servers Experience of OS troubleshooting, including Microsoft Windows 8.1&10 and Server OS 2012R2 Experience with Windows 2012R2 Active Directory Domain environment required Experience in Microsoft Hyper-V Virtualisation required Additional Requirements Driving license and vehicle preferred Ability to be on call as a second line Ability to work out of hours when required to meet with the system operational constraints Authorised to work in UK on a permanent basis.
