Overview
Solution Architect Would you like to work within a thriving market facing Information Systems & Services (IS&S) Department as a Solution Architect where you will be working within the Enterprise Architecture team to align architecture to business and function strategy? The successful candidate will own and manage all aspects of the Maritime Services Application Architecture in conjunction with other members of the Enterprise Architecture Team. Main responsibilities of the Solution Architect: Own and manage all aspects of the Maritime Services Application Architecture in conjunction with other members of the Enterprise Architecture Team. Research and track changes in technology and innovative applications and assess their impact on the Maritime Services Business Deploy and apply strategies that map out the future systems/information landscape and advise the Enterprise Architect on future roadmap opportunities Provide detailed advice on the integration of new technologies and innovative applications in support of the IS&S strategy. Identify technology partners to design/develop/provide application components that meet requirements and the needs of the architecture Assess COTS products and software frameworks for inclusion in the application architecture Work with colleagues within IS&S to ensure interoperability between business systems and their use of common application components Provide detailed advice regarding architecture, tools and how they are used. Ensure that the architectures and design patterns are documented in accordance with the Enterprise Architecture method and approach Participate in checks on the effectiveness of the business systems across the Maritime Service architecture space. Responsible for ensuring IT security is incorporated in the design of any new architecture Ensure that relevant strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied correctly Work with Project Managers to ensure that projects are maintaining the technical standards and design necessary to ensure an integrated architecture. Your skills and qualifications: University degree educated with Business, Data and Application Architecture experience of at least 5 years. Desirable; Software development experience of at least 5 years Knowledge of the business needs and business functions of Maritime Services that drive the requirements for whole application architecture A breadth of technical knowledge that includes: An understanding of business architecture and how this fits in with customer solutions and the IS&S strategy. A good knowledge of data / information architecture and how this can be utilised between systems, applications and databases. A broad knowledge of technology architecture and how it can be integrated e.g. servers, storage and network technologies. A good knowledge of security controls, policies and governance preferably covering government standards and procedures. A thorough understanding of architecture principles, presentation and communication skills Knowledge of TOGAF and other frameworks and methods for developing architectures Complex issue resolution of a solution and integration nature and the ability to act as escalation route for programme management and SDA related issues What we're looking for in you: High level of interpersonal skills Ability to set stretch and realistic targets Ability to shape positive relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that requirements are met with practical solutions (both Team and Customers).
