A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our Engineering Department in Hovis Erith to join the team in the role of Engineering Front Line Manager (FLM). The role will involve effectively managing the engineering resources along with the engineering team to ensure continuous improvement and optimisation of plant and equipment reliability. Key accountabilities will include: Help deliver the company's plan of producing “ the best quality product in the market place” by supporting all functions. Develop ‘Line Plans’ identifying key areas of ‘downtime’ and remedial actions necessary to negate re-occurrence. Ensure all plant, equipment and ancillary building services are maintained to the highest standard. Be instrumental in the effective use of resource in relation to Planned Preventive Maintenance Scheduling and unplanned equipment failures. Drive Engineering standards, in particular Performance, Attitude, Workshop cleanliness, Job and Tool Audits. To manage, develop and maximise individual and team performance, through the utilisation of sound leadership and coaching techniques. Adopt a proactive approach to resolving issues and improving plant throughput on a daily basis using RCA to prevent re-occurrence. Deliver team briefs and group discussions to improve communication and craft motivation. Identify and manage cost effective area improvement projects to gain competitive advantage within the business. Understand weekly expenditure and benefits gained through the adoption of a ‘Value for money’ approach to Cost Centre Management. Liaise with the HR department to control and monitor absenteeism within the Engineering Team. Deliver and support site legislative requirements focusing on Safety, Quality and Good Manufacturing practices. Contractor management and planning. Strive to forge strong bonds with operations, becoming more aligned and customer orientated as a result. Essential Criteria Recognised Electrical/Mechanical Engineering qualification; City & Guilds minimum Proven track record of Front Line Management within an FMCG environment Thorough understanding of PPM techniques Strong desire to develop and coach team performance Working knowledge of Legislative standards within the FMCG environment High level of numeracy and ability to analyse and interpret data Proactive approach to Problem solving Ability to identify and implement Process improvements Ability to produce detailed Engineering and Process Risk assessments Desirable Criteria Manufacturing systems experience Project Management skills Management of financial budgets (CCM) Working knowledge of improvement techniques used to maximise and optimise plant performance and equipment Ability to produce detailed Engineering and Process Risk assessments Extensive PLC/Controls knowledge Location: Erith Reporting to: Engineering Manager Applicants must have the right to work in the UK This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89946991
