The role: We are looking for experienced paralegals to join our complex legal and enforcement department. You will manage your own caseload of 200 files, dealing with defences to consumer credit, telecommunications and utility claims. Our paralegals actively contribute to our culture of doing the right thing and demonstrate that the client is at the heart of our business through their behaviours and mindset. We have grown significantly over the last 3 years which has seen many of our paralegals progress within their role, into leaders through our aspiring leaders programme and this year we will be looking to recruit our 2nd Trainee Solicitor. Key responsibilities: Manage defended litigation and complex matters relating to small claims, fast track consumer credit and non-regulated claims. Meet internal and external deadlines, including court hearings and dates to comply with court directions. Make recommendations concerning commercial and legal decisions about cases. Identify and achieve creative solutions to problems and disputes Draft legal documents including agreements, witness statements, replies, trial bundles, Particulars of Claim, Tomlin/Consent Orders, letters and other correspondence. Skills and attributes: Technical knowledge of civil litigation legal issues Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills Ability to work in a fast paced environment to meet multiple deadlines. You will be a confident decision, be proactive and manage cases on your own initiative. Have excellent attention to details Be an effective communicator. Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages Requirements Thorough understanding of the SRA Codes of Conduct and FCA rules Civil litigation experience (i.e. within an internal legal collections department, complaints or solicitors practice) Drafting witness statements and court documents Experience of managing own caseload Qualifications Studying towards/achieved - Law degree, ILEX, LPC, BPTC - Desirable Benefits: You have a huge impact on our success and our rewards reflect this.
