Production Manager HMNB Clyde, Faslane £Competitive Salary SF27370 About the role Babcock Naval Marine Division is the largest of Babcock's Marine Sector with circa 7500 highly skilled employees and are the UK's leading naval support business. Our experience draws on an unmatched range of engineering and technical skills in providing naval base management and shipbuilding to the Royal Navy's submarines and surface ships, in addition to operating a wide range of strategic shore-based naval support facilities. We are looking to recruit a Fleet Engineering Production Manager to lead and manage the Delivery Manager (Afloat) team within the Fleet Engineering Department to meet safety, quality, time and cost targets. In addition, to act as the Head of Fleet Engineering's Deputy in managing the delivery and growth of Fleet Engineering projects. Responsibilities Lead on Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality within the wider Fleet Engineering Team & implementation of the Company policies in the Marine Engineering area of the business ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices. Agreeing department objectives and targets with the Head of Fleet Engineering and once set, managing these through to successful completion. Champion process, technical and business improvement using continuous improvement techniques to accelerate delivery in key business areas. Includes measuring Departmental performance and adoption of best practice by the introduction of innovative technological solutions such as Repair Afloat techniques. Ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company's cost, time and quality requirements. Lead and motivate all Fleet Engineering Support staff to deliver the main objective and purpose. Assist the Head of Fleet Engineering in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the production resource. Specific Nuclear Safety Responsibilities. Ensure that adequate Suitably Qualified and Experienced resource and equipment is available to conduct submarine maintenance and repair activities in accordance with the Clyde Safety Management Arrangements. Specific Nuclear Safety Responsibilities - Act as a member of the NERO as an Intervention Manager. What do I need to do the role? Ideally, you will be a Chartered Engineer with proven experience in technical leadership roles supporting complex assets. You will have demonstrable experience in managing multiple engineering projects, desirably in the maritime domain. You will have the ability to work collaboratively with the MoD and Royal Navy, as well as managing Babcock's civilian resource. Ideally, you will have experience working as a Manufacturing Manager for a large engineering company and any experience of nuclear will be beneficial. What else do I need to know? You will work 37 hours per week Monday to Friday with flexible working and you must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
