Equity Research Manager

Leeds based Border to Coast Pensions Partnership was established in 2018 and is one of the largest pension pools in the UK. As one of eight national Local Government pools, Border to Coast oversees the investment of pensions assets, bringing together £43 billion from 12 Local Government Pension Scheme funds. Border to Coast is currently seeking to recruit an experienced equity analyst to produce high-quality investment research incorporating Border to Coast’s investment philosophy and process. The successful candidate will join an 18-person internal equity team based in Leeds overseeing a global mandate. The key responsibilities are: Generation of high quality investment research in accordance with the Border to Coast’s investment philosophy and process. Preparation and maintenance of extensive due diligence reports to support investment decision making and portfolio construction using both internal and external sources. Evaluate new investment opportunities as directed. Engage with both the Risk and Responsible Investment team to ensure an integrated investment approach. Be willing to travel to undertake research trips. The following skills and experience are required for this role: Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to distil a wide range of often conflicting information in a concise and cohesive manner. Generate robust financial income, cashflow and balance sheet models to accompany investment thesis. Collaborate with others to generate investment ideas, refine processes and share constructive feedback. Must be organised and able to work independently. Experience : Minimum of 7 years of investment experience. Alternatively, candidates with accounting qualifications wishing to move into investment management will be considered, however this route must be accompanied by a proven interest in investment management and understanding how companies work. This role is one of continual development, starting as an Investment Manager with the potential to progress to a Portfolio Manager over time. This a permanent position based in Leeds.
