EL / PL Fee Earner
Overview
This well-established, Legal 500 firm is now looking to strengthen their injury team with the addition of an EL/PL fee earner in their Newcastle office. The successful fee earner will take over an existing caseload of EL/PL claims, both pre and post-litigation. Significant experience in running an EL/PL caseload is therefore necessary, as is some experience and a willingness to litigate when appropriate. Claims will be a mix of both portal and non-portal. Duties will include but are not limited to: Reviewing files and reporting regularly to clients, referrers, team leaders or others Liaising with medical and other experts Assessing the merits of cases in light of denials of liability and gathering evidence, both documentary and witness, to rebut denials and pursue meritorious cases to settlement by negotiation or through litigation Liaising and negotiating with insurers, solicitors, courts, counsel and other agencies Valuing claims for Pain Suffering and Loss of Amenity. Identifying, gathering evidence in support of and valuing other heads of damage, including loss of earnings, care and assistance and Smith v Manchester damages Completing schedules of Special Damages. Issuing proceedings and proceeding through litigation to settlement or trial Preparing cases for trial including preparing briefs to counsel. The successful fee earner will be rewarded with a competitive salary (in line with previous experience), along with a bonus scheme and extensive company benefits package.
