Job title: Care Support Worker Reporting to: Care Coordinator Salary: £8.50 per hour Location: Brent, London Start Date: Immediate Start Our client: Our client is a well-established, reliable domiciliary care service head-quartered in North West London. Their key principle is promoting independence and well-being for all service users and they are now currently looking to add to and grow their existing team by hiring several Care Support workers to join their team in Brent. Our clients’ staff work in a double up situation 90% of the time, this helps new care workers transition into their role more effectively. Our client also offers great training opportunities including The Care Certificate, NVQ level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. They also provide a full induction and shadowing support. Ideal candidate: The ideal candidate must: • Live reasonably locally to Brent • Speak fluent English • Be educated to at least Secondary School level • Preferably have at least 1 years’ experience in a similar role - Experience of working with Adults that fall into the categories of Older People/Dementia/Physical Disability/Sensory Impairment • MUST hold a valid UK driving licence and have use of own vehicle for transportation (drivers only) Skills and Attributes: • Good communication skills; written and verbal • An active team player • Ability to work on own initiative • Sound understanding of good care principles and regulations • Ability to build working relations with health professionals and the local authority • Ability to cope under pressure • Even-tempered and patient • Ability to cope with change • Ability to display empathy Key Tasks: • Dressing and Undressing/Preparing the service user for Day Care of trips out • Washing/Bathing/Showering/Shaving/Grooming/Oral Hygiene • Hair Care (Washing and Brushing) • Nail Care (Fingernails only) • Toileting and all aspects of Personal Hygiene • Continence Management • Care of Pressure Sores (under appropriate nursing supervision) • Getting in and out of Bed • Assisting with the use of aids to daily living/Rehabilitations Aids, as required • Helping with rehabilitation programmes, as prescribed by Healthcare Professionals • Day/Evening/Nigh Sitting services, as required Healthcare: • Assisting the service user to take prescribed medication Dietary Care: • Preparation of snacks and meals according to the service users likes/dislikes • Assisting with feeding, as required Domestic/Household Services: • General Cleaning Duties – To include, cleaning/dusting/vacuuming/polishing, in accordance with service users care planning documentation and company’s health and safety policy and procedure • Bed-making • Clearing refuse and rubbish • Laundering/Hand-Washing/ironing, as required • Shopping and the preparation of shopping lists and assistance with budgeting • Light Gardening Tasks (subject to previous agreement at the Care Planning Stage) Health and Safety: • Take responsibility for your health and safety in the workplace and the wellbeing of colleagues and service users around you • To ensure all measures are taken to prevent injury to you, your colleagues and service users affected by your actions and omissions at work • To work in accordance with the company’s health and safety policy and procedure [HR02] • To work in accordance with health and safety obligations instilled during attendance to training programmes • Responsible for the attendance to the Induction training programme • Responsible for the attendance to all required health and safety update training programmes, internally and externally conducted • Responsible to attend annual update training programmes both internal and external as necessary • To ensure all tasks carried out by the branch’s care force are performed with the utmost regards for the health and safety of all those involved • To work in accordance with the health and safety guidelines of the Care Workers Handbook • To effectively assess, reduce and record all aspects of a service users risk assessment date incorporated within the company’s care and support planning documentation • To effectively report and manage any identified health and safety risks during the completion of an initial care and support visit, regular home visit or review, involving your Line Manager and other health professionals • Effectively identifying, accessing, evaluating and eliminating health and safety risks to employees within their working environment • Effectively introduce control measures to reduce risks to a reasonable level • To effectively report accidents and incidents regarding service users, personal events and supporting colleagues • To effectively report accidents under RIDDOR to your Line Manager with immediate effect • To effectively record accidents and incidents regarding service users, personal events and supporting colleagues • To effectively report changes in your medical well-being that pose a risk to you, a colleague or a service user within your working environment • Responsible for using any moving and handling equipment in accordance with training programmes, company policies and procedures and governing legislation • Responsible for using personal protective equipment (P.P.E) provided by us • To work in accordance with infection control guidance and training • To work in accordance with the company’s medication policy and procedure Other duties: • At times of holiday or sickness or in the event of a vacancy the post holder may be required to provide cover for other staff • Participate in and contribute to one’s own appraisal and supervision • Assist in promoting the aims of the organisation Please note due to the high volume of responses received for this role we will not be able to contact all applicants directly.
