Scientist

A polymer and materials manufacturer are currently recruiting for a Scientist to join their expanding team, working on the development of the next generation of polymers and materials in new application areas. As a Scientist, you will be responsible for coordinating complex R&D and innovation programmes as well as identifying new business development opportunities and exploring new application areas for already existing technologies. To be considered for this Scientist position you will have a minimum of a degree in Chemistry, along with significant experience of researching and developing a broad range of polymeric materials in a variety of application areas including coatings, films, foams, adhesives and rubbers. You will also have previous managerial experience from the chemicals, polymers or materials sector. Key Responsibilities Responsible for leading and delivering R&D programmes Development of new polymeric materials in a range of core technology areas Carry out various IP and patent searches and programmes Management of at least 1 R&D team member, responsible for personal development and performance management Represent the company at various conferences and networking events across the year Knowledge and Experience Minimum BSc in Chemistry, and ideally someone with further education in Polymer Chemistry or Materials Science (MSc, PhD) Minimum 5 years spent within R&D in the polymers sector, developing a range of polymeric materials in various application areas including coatings, films, packaging, adhesives, foams and rubbers.
