Overview

Java Developer After establishing dominance in the travel market over 5 years ago, and generating year-on-year growth and profit since a year after inception, this nationally recognised brand is looking for a Java Developer to join one of their main cross-functional Agile teams. You will be working on the back-end of the most important customer-facing tool this brand offers, the Search function. This function is responsible for the search and display of the 500 million customised packages this brand produces from 10s of billions of data points it ingests daily. As a Java Developer on the Search team, you will be working with a cutting-edge Open Source tech stack that is always evolving to ensure only the best tools for the job are being used. Your role as a Java Developer will also see you involved in the re-engineering of the current platform into distributed Microservices deployed to Google Cloud Platform. This Senior Java Developer will be working with Java 8 and Spring/Spring Boot on their daily projects, and will also be using RxJava for asynchronous programming as well as many other technologies and tools depending on your workload. In order to perform in this role as a Java Developer, you will be expected to have: Deep knowledge of Java 7 Knowledge of Java 8 features and their use cases Experience building RESTful API's Previous experience using Hibernate Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, many stories are developed and put into live production in the same day Proven experience working with CI/CD pipelines and a good understanding of the tools used However, in return, as well as working for the nation's fastest growing travel company, you stand to gain: Solr, this is used for the caching of millions of custom packages DevOps experience, every developer is given the powers to act as a DevOps engineer for their own projects Exposure to working with an index of millions of lines of data Career progression - A genuine career progression will be built into your role Exposure to Google Cloud Platform as we migrate our services This role will have you involved in the continual revolutionising of the travel industry that this company has always been the centre of.
