Job role: Residential Care Worker Location: LE12 Leicester Pay scale : £10.15 Job Purpose of a Residential Care Worker: · To provide day to day care for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties with in a new children’s home. · To contribute both individually and as part of a team in providing young people with quality care in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organisation, · To proactively assist in providing a safe and homely environment for young people to thrive within. · To promote the rights of young people as individuals and to actively help young people to reach their full potential by identifying and strengthening areas of weakness and developing areas of strength. Duties and Responsibilities of a Residential Care Worker: · To work effectively as part of the team · Support management in all aspects of the shift, ensuring all tasks and paperwork are completed · Complete tasks that are allocated to ensure the smooth running of the home and positive outcomes for young people and carers · Participate in the rota for the care of young people as part of the care team and complete tasks including; o Ensuring care plans are followed for young people ensuring positive outcomes o Organising activity planners, activities and participating in activities for the young people o Domestic duties including cleaning and laundry to maintain a clean safe environment o Cooking and shopping for the home and the young people o Transporting young people to appointments, activities, meetings etc when required · Fulfil sleep in duties as according to the agreed rota · Attends planning/ care review/ PEP meetings and complete necessary reports. · Check that all young people have care plans/ EHCP in place that are up to date, accurate and followed · Safeguard young people ensuring their safety and wellbeing Person Specification of a Residential Care Worker: · Essential o You must have worked in a children's home, for at least one year. o Full Driving license o Experience working with children with Emotional and Behaviour difficulties o Supervisor/management/senior experience Desirable oQCF Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce to equivalent Training and development opportunities are provided to support you in developing your career.
