Mechanical Product Engineer Portsmouth £40-50K depending on experience Our client has a new exciting role for an experienced Mechanical Product Engineer, to work for one of the leading manufacturing companies in the area. Candidates must have proven product design skills, tooling and manufacturing knowledge of high-volume plastic injection moulded components and small metal fabrications. You will be able to understand problems quickly and generate effective solutions. You must be methodical and efficient in your approach and have an excellent attention to detail. An important element of the role is to review and create documentation and reports that can be easily understood by others. This role requires a self-starter with the ability to work independently without close supervision, seeing tasks through to completion. Experience of working in high-volume manufacturing and any knowledge of product approvals will be a huge benefit. Duties will include: Collaborating with other team members and suppliers to ensure that products are optimised for sustainable manufacture Use data analysis to help reduce the impact of defects in production Effectively participate in effective DFMEAs & PFMEAs, using lessons learnt from other projects to minimise risk Identify, evaluate & introduce new technologies, cost reductions or materials where appropriate Propose improvements to designs and update product documentation through the Design Change Order process Use Solidworks part and assembly modelling tools to update designs and documentation Checking your own work as well as other team member`s drawings and documentation Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89723349
