Overview

We are urgently seeking an experienced Principal Planning and Development Officer to assist the major applications team in the delivery of some significant and complex schemes for one of our local government clients based in Islington. The Principal Planning and Development Officer will manage relevant caseloads associated with Major Planning Applications, including making recommendations, handling any appeals and representing the our client at Informal Hearings and Public Inquiries and any associated Court proceedings. The role also includes engagement with developers through Planning Performance Agreements, negotiating high quality outcomes to schemes and supporting the decision-making processes of the Planning Authority. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following: Confidence in negotiating and advising on major planning applications Attention to detail Effective decision making Thorough appreciation and understanding of relevant legislation and its interpretation Completion of a recognised relevant qualification and eligibility for membership of the RTPI Extensive knowledge and understanding of development management systems and processes and the ability to work to specified procedures. Proven active participation in meetings, team meetings, staff briefings, training courses and sharing of knowledge Experience of assisting in the development and implementation of local planning policy and guidance Please apply for further information.
