Overview

Our prestigious client is seeking an Investment Consultant that will excel in a role across both advisory and asset transitions. This role combines excellent communication skills, a passion about investments together with drive and enthusiasm. We also need an individual with strong project management skills combined with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will lead client relationships, providing them with the advice they need to solve their problems. This will require you to use your technical skills to develop innovative solutions and use your communication skills to effectively deliver your advice. You will also be a key support to the asset transition team, providing a valuable project management resource, responsible for the oversight, planning and checking of transition exercises. Our client wants someone who is unafraid to express a view and can express their view clearly, thereby contributing to the investment ideas we rely on to achieve our aims. You'll be expected to contribute to the ongoing debate we have about what we're doing with our clients, thereby helping influence our future direction. The role: Building strong relationships with our clients and working with those trustees of companies to help solve their investment/risk management challenges Designing innovative investment strategies including growth portfolio design, liability hedging portfolios and cash flowing matching portfolios Leading the delivery of advice at client meetings and helping clients decide what action to take Working the Investment Consulting team to ensure our advice is produced to the highest quality Leading research teams to undertake idea or manager research to help us buy and implement ideas to solve our clients' problems Working with the asset transition team to assist with asset transition projects from inception through to completion Checking transition project plans and associated timelines and calculating associated estimated costs Preparing and checking investment manager documentation required for account opening and executing transition activity Assisting with monitoring transition actions throughout the timeline of the projects and assisting in resolving any difficult issues in a timely, risk-controlled manner Maintaining complete audit trails and backing information. Collating post transition data to reconcile the activity undertaken including preparing post transition reports Helping to improve transition processes and procedures and maintaining the transitions team's database Support new business activities including production of tender submissions and attendance at pitches to articulate our proposition. Potentially to identify and pursue new business opportunities Mentoring junior members of team to develop the skills to help them realise their potential The person: Essential Passionate about investments and investing Strong desire to accelerate the development of other team members Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Direct experience of providing investment consultancy to UK pension schemes Ability to identify fee generating opportunities and achieve revenue targets Effective organisation skills and ability to manage and prioritise workload including the ability to manage multiple tasks to demanding timeframes Project management experience Appreciation of risk management Confident in working under pressure and to time critical deadlines Effective problem solving and ability to seek resolutions to problems quickly and effectively Ability to work with scheme actuaries and benefit consultants Desire to contribute to idea generation and the confidence to express a view FCA Regulated Individual Status Desirable Experience of new business tender responses and pitching Appetite to get involved in new business origination
