Overview

The B&S Group is a privately owned pharmaceutical company which manufactures and distributes pharmaceutical and healthcare products to the UK market. Established in 1999 we offer a wide range of products and services which includes specials, generic drugs, branded medicines, parallel trade and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines. Having undergone two acquisitions since 2010, we are continuing to strengthen and grow. Role Summary: Reporting to the Group CFO and CEO of B&S Distribution, and managing a team split across London and India, you will be responsible for the financial operations of this rapidly growing £250m turnover business. Driving improvements in financial management, business planning, internal controls / processes and business partnering are all key components of the role as well as responsibility for Tax, VAT, statutory audit and banking. Key Role Responsibilities: Management Accounts Manage the preparation of monthly management accounts, including KPI’s and the Board Pack, on a timely and accurate basis Continuously seek to accelerate the delivery of management accounts through automation and streamlined processes Continued focus on development and tracking of relevant KPI’s that will help drive improved business performance Submit management accounts to the banks in line with bank covenant requirements Business Planning and Partnering Lead the annual budgeting, Reforecasting and Long Range Planning processes (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow), ensuring that robust budgets are in place and properly communicated to the business Partner with the Business Unit Heads to help optimize business performance and ensure that Budgets are achieved Financial Controls, Processes and Compliance Implement and maintain effective controls and processes with which to report company performance accurately and safeguard company assets Ensure financial compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations where the company operates Implement and maintain appropriate delegations of authority in line with Group requirements Banking and Cash Manage and report the company’s consolidated cash position through production of weekly cash flow forecasts and analysis of actual performance against those forecasts Together with Group CFO, develop and maintain strong working relationships with the company’s banks and ensure compliance with banking covenants at all times Other Manage all aspects of the statutory audit process (with the support of the Group CFO as required) Lead and develop a strong finance team (London and India) that is respected within the business Continually assess the current financial systems and identify / implement opportunities for improvement Other ad hoc projects supporting the Group CFO and CEO of B&S Distribution as required Key Relationships: Group CFO, CEO of B&S Distribution, Business Unit Heads Key external stakeholders e.g. banks, auditors, tax advisors Finance team (London and India) Knowledge & Qualifications Qualified accountant ACA/CIMA/ACCA with significant post qualification experience operating at senior management / Board level Strong technical accounting knowledge e.g. group consolidations, forex accounting and cash flow Knows what good looks like in a Finance function Strong knowledge of excel and financial systems. PowerPoint experience desirable. Experience & Skills: Experience of working as an FD within a fast-paced rapidly growing business Wholesale experience (especially Pharmaceutical) would be ideal, but is not essential, as would inventory management / controls Strong leader of teams, both on site and remotely Hands on and comfortable operating in the detail as well as managing broader commercial / strategic issues Good all round communicator with the ability to interpret and explain complex financial data Strong team working and interpersonal skills Results oriented with good problem solving and time management skills Strong negotiator both with internal and external stakeholders Good experience of process improvement
