Overview

Due to ongoing growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of products for the Automotive industry, at their plant based in Liverpool. The company is a cutting edge Automotive parts manufacturer with large growth plans, meaning this is an excellent time to join this ambitious company, its growth is phenomenal and the candidate must want to be part of an organisation that is aiming to be a major, world class Tier 1 manufacturer within the next five years. Your role will be to ensure that the production processes are set up according to the company requirements (currently IATF16949) to enable the production team to deliver the right product at the correct rate of the desired quality to exceed customer expectation. You will liaise closely with the new product development team to enable new products to be made from prototyping through to production as well as support the production department with continuous improvement initiatives. The Manufacturing Engineer responsibilities are to: A hands-on approach to providing technical support for production department in the areas of NPI (New Product Introduction), process development and improvement and cost reduction Industrialise project concepts into manufacturing processes. Manage projects covering capacity improvement, new production tooling, cost saving and quality improvement. Work to IATF 16949 framework, for example leading and controlling PFMEA's and conducting production process reviews. Liaise closely with the Design and Development team to assist with Design for Manufacture. Complete statistical data analysis (e.g. MSA (Measurement System Analysis), process capability studies) and define sampling plans and product audits. Continual improvement of manufacturing processes including process innovation and DOE (Design Of Experiment). Complete new equipment runoff and acceptance tests. Review daily operating procedures, define process KPI's and report on process quality and process improvement issues. Manage change of product and process to IATF16949 following the company change control process. Identify training requirements of production staff in line with process requirements. Implement regular information sharing and process advice to the business, about quality and output performance. Make recommendation on process quality and output improvements. Attend meetings on request to update/share quality and output improvement ideas. The Manufacturing Engineer will have: Minimum 2 years working experience in an automotive component manufacturing environment, ideally within a CNC environment. Working within a VDA 6.3 or TS16949 / IATF16949:2016 certified organisation; qualification in LEAN manufacturing principles, for example six sigma green belt. Experience in APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC and control plans Must have demonstrated ability to analyse information (including numerical) and understand and interpret trends. Able to work as part of a team and on their own with minimum supervision. Strong communication and organisational skills. IT skill: Proficiency in Microsoft essential, minitab and SAP an advantage Ability to design production cell layouts, tooling and fixtures.
