Overview

Senior Buyer - Services On behalf of our leading petrochemical client, we are recruiting for a senior buyer. The role is specific to the procurement of services and it is essential that the successful candidate has experience gained within the EPCC process structure at a strategic and contractual services basis. The role is initially a temporary ongoing role but may lead to a permanent role for the suitable candidate. The business leads their field and has links to global PLC businesses. This opportunity is unrivalled in the market currently. The main duties include but are not exhaustive of: To provide competent purchasing advice and guidance on most appropriate and cost effective procurement routes as well as maintaining up to date knowledge of purchasing processes and legislation. Participate in cross discipline sourcing teams to select suppliers. Formulate enquiries, evaluate bids, and negotiate with suppliers. Maintain the procurement databases to seek and store information. Manage supplier relationships through the contract lifecycle by leading reviews, writing up minutes and assigning actions. Monitor and measure supplier performance, using the non-conformance database as the means to manage improvement where appropriate. Understand and test customer specification of requirements to ensure the purchased materials or services fully satisfy the needs with respect to specification, price, delivery and quality. Select and add correct terms & conditions to all purchase orders before issuing. Progress and expedite orders to avoid late deliveries, informing customers of any potential risk to supply. After orders are delivered, ensure orders are closed out and invoices queries are resolved. Obtaining Budgetary quotations for project engineers Quotation reviews T&Cs reviews Supplier set up and due diligence checking Checking current contractually agreed rates are applied to projects Tendering and bid tab analysis Reviewing technical specs for tender Drafting and issuing tenders Bid receipt and collation including populating bid tabs Expediting and invoice query resolution What you'll need to succeed The job holder should have HNC or equivalent with a sound background of at least 3 years' experience in a commercial / purchasing role, with CIPS membership an advantage The job holder is required to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and build effective working relationships both internally and externally. The job holder must have an understanding of and a willingness to learn more about contract construction and contract law/T&Cs. The role holder will need to balance priorities and have the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment. This is a reactive role; responding to site needs on short notice as well as looking at the overall spend profiles for opportunities. Excellent IT skills, particularly with very good knowledge of excel, with good user skills in word.
